First time here?
Greetings and welcome!
I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now, but have just now gotten around to it. First I wanted to briefly introduce myself to you as the guy who “owns” (if such a thing is indeed possible) this blog. My name is Brook (the story behind the name is over on my about me page). Needless to say it is a sad one. Which naturally means you should feel free to feel bad for me and support my blogging habit by sending copious amounts of cash or checking out some of my sponsors. Do the letters PPC mean anything to you?
Now for the fun stuff. You may find this blog isn’t like a lot of other blogs in a few ways.
- It’s not focused on any particular niche
- One person, that would be me, contributes all of the content and generally I update 2 to 5 times per day. Which reminds me… If you’d like to contribute to this blog get ahold of me and we’ll take it from there.
- I try to answer each and every comment individually, but am not always successful
- Nothing is taboo when it comes to discussion here as long as it is done in a mature manner! I shouldn’t have to point that out, but I do
That brings me to the next point. Rules. I’d like to tell you that there are no rules, but sadly I need some rules to ensure that things run smoothly.
- Content you contribute
- This includes comments, guest posts, and any other similar activity (forum posts for example). It is your content, you own the copyright (unless you’ve plagiarized it from elsewhere in which case DO NOT post it here as your own). I however maintain the right to refuse to display your content AND/OR to edit the content to make it appropriate. If you don’t agree with something I’ve edited I will be more than happy to delete the content altogether. In over 800 comments I’ve only edited maybe 5 or 6 thus far.
- Content I contribute
- It seems like common sense to me, but it is apparently not. I hold the copyright to my own content. Period. I want you to feel free to use my content, up to a MAXIMUM of 50 word excerpts which must link back to the original content on this blog. If you need an exception to this rule please contact me with a reason why. As for exceptions to who should “feel free” to use the content…
- Any sites dealing with pornography of any kind
- Gambling sites
- Any sites dealing with anything illegal
- Any sites I decide aren’t allowed to use my content… Which are few and far between, but I need a “catch all” just in case.
- Banning
- Spam me and I will put my effort into banning you. What is spam? It’s when you post nonsense that contributes nothing at all to the conversation at hand. You’ll get a nice little message saying “Welcome to A Blog about Nothing (http://www.ablogaboutnothing.com)! Unfortunately you’ve done something stupid (like spamming) and you have earned a free lifetime ban! If you feel this ban is unjustified, tough shit!” if you try to get on the site and have been banned. Of course if you’re reading this you haven’t been banned…
- Courtesy
- You know what it is and how to use it. Do so. ESPECIALLY to other readers. Myself, I’m not so worried about. After all I can ban you
That enough of the crappy stuff. In the future I may or may not update the rules, but for now I think those few are more than reasonable, don’t you?
Once again I’d like to welcome you to A Blog about Nothing and invite you to participate. In order to facilitate that participation I would like to invite you to -

If you’ve made it this far I’d like to introduce you to a few posts so you’ll get an idea of what you can expect on this blog.
Those are only a few of the total number of posts, please feel free to browse the archives for more great content. Which reminds me. Why should you worry about trying not to miss any content when I can simply email you a copy of the daily RSS feed?
