Targeting my niche?
July 23rd, 2007 | by Brook Durant |
What exactly is my niche? Though I tend to spend a lot of time “talking with”, reading, learning from, and otherwise being involved with blogs that deal with monetization that’s not my niche. It something that interests me, but it’s not something I’m an expert at. I certainly have opinions on blogs and other websites that I see out there and when I give a requested review of one that is abundantly (I hope) clear. I’m not certain that reviewing is my niche either as I’m not an expert about blogs anymore than a movie reviewer is an expert at the directing or a book reviewer is an expert at the craft of writing best selling fiction.
I spent some time looking over a few of the postings I have written trying to figure out if anything at all stands out from the rest, a pattern. I can find nothing that dominates. I’ve posted about everything from Ron Paul to Deathly Hallows. From marijuana in the UK to David Beckham in the soccer world. I’ve posted a few reviews for people including Richard over at Blogger for Life (review here), and Ryan of One Man’s Goal (review here), and will continue to do so as long as people request them.
Despite all that I am still trying to discover my “niche”. Is it possible to simply not have a particular niche and yet still be successful at blogging? I have a feeling I might just be about to find out.

I look forward to reading more about your thoughts. I’ve had some trouble choosing a topic for articles and posts before but I guess you eventually settle on something. Maybe you should document your journey as a new blogger…
