Speeding up Firefox

When first installed a lot of people complain that is to slow compared to . There’s a few tips to help speed it up, and once you’ve done so your browsing experience will become much more enjoyable. A few days ago in my post about Firefox extensions I pointed out one called called Fasterfox which helps to speed up Firefox, but there are some manual tweaks which allow you more control over what is being done.

In order to access the manual tweak “section” go to your address bar in Firefox and type about:config just like you see it there and then push enter/return or click “go”. You should see a page which looks something like this in your browser.

A Blog about Nothing - Speeding up Firefox

Where it says filter you type in the name of the item you are looking for and it will filter it out. As far as what to actually change I’ve found my best source of information to be this resource. Just find the value using the filter and change the value to what the site tells you to use. On the site it is printed out like this: user_pref(”network.http.pipelining”, true); but when you filter just use the network.http.pipelining part. Same holds true for everything.

Again these a tricks meant for the basic user not the advanced as I suspect the advanced user is already aware of these. I hope this helps out a little bit!
