Slammed? I don’t think so.

Missed the targetA few days ago I requested a slam from Slam Blogger after reading slams of both John Chow and Blogger Unleashed and a few others in his archives. To be honest I was slightly disappointed though I did come away with a few tips. Time will tell if I actually implement them however.

But let’s talk about why I was disappointed at all. Well for one thing I don’t feel that I really got “slammed”. Instead it read more like a stern critique. I wouldn’t have much to say but when you compare his previous slams to the one Ethan gave me you can’t help but notice he seems to have lost his edge. Even John chow noticed it in the third part of his slam and told him as much in the comments. Ethan acknowledged to another commenter it was a step down due to losing focus. I’m guessing that his out of town trip caused him to lose focus on slamming this blog.

I’m also wondering if he took it a bit easier than normal due to it being a request instead of someone he simply “blessed” with a slam? If anything I would almost expect it to be more brutal and more forthcoming than other ones for the simple fact that you have to be plenty stupid to request someone to rip you apart. Which lends itself nicely to being slammed. Or so it seems to me.

If you read his slam of A Blog about Nothing you’ll notice Ethan went after some of the weaker things to slam. He apparently doesn’t like that I’ve been including a footer in each post requesting subscribers to my email rss feed but aside from telling me I shouldn’t beg he didn’t really slam it.

There’s more to it, but I’ll let you read the “slam” over on Ethan’s site and decide for yourself. I personally believe he either didn’t put the effort into the slam that he has in the past or he lost his killer instinct. If the former is the case he’ll just have to work harder, but if the latter is the case I don’t see how he could be successful with the type of blog he is running if he isn’t willing (or able) to go in for the kill. Ethan are you a man or are you a mouse? Is the killer instinct still in you, or have you run out of gas already?

Regardless I encourage you to keep an eye on this guy because if he goes back to his old ways of actually slamming people he’ll make quite a name for himself. If not… ho-hum, yawn. All in all I’d say you way missed the target for some reason, but I also know you are capable of much better as I’ve read them myself.

Oh and just for you Ethan…

I’d like to remind everyone to please sign up for my email rss feed. Once I reach 500 subscriptions I will randomly choose a member of the 500 signups and send that person $50.00! Tell your friends, tell your family, tell everyone about their chance to win $50.00! Hell, you’t even need to link back to an article, or write an article. Just need to be one of the 500 subscribers. Contest will run until there is a winner. So tell everyone because until we reach 500 subscribers no one has any chance to get that $50.00!

You’re absolutely right, ever since my out of town trip, my slams haven’t been what they were when I started the blog.

Yes, I did lighten up on you since you requested a slam, but thanks for pointing that out to me, as I will NOT lighten up on people just because they requested a post.

Sorry that your slam wasn’t quite up to par, but hey, people still liked it.

Thanks for the link. :) and thanks for requesting a slam!

Ethan - My advice is don’t even post it until you know it’s up to par. No one will get offended if you just wait because you’re not producing what you know you should. Otherwise it’s a little unfair, as the point of a slam is to get unadulterated feedback.

My problem with not posting until I have a perfect post is, that I fear, that if I don’t post at least one new post everyday, on my brand new blog that I’ve been working on so diligently, all of my readers will leave. Now, while I know that not everybody will leave, I know that some will. I want to catch peoples attention, and I want them back each and every day. By not posting until I have something perfect, I feel as if I’m letting those return visitors down if I go 3-4 days without a new post.

^—– The above remarks make no sense to me.(This comment, not yours)I kind of just…Idk, typed until I got tired. Oh well.
Call it comment spam, because I didn’t say anything useful!

I find this post quite funny. It’s a bit like people who go on the Weakest Link to be insulted by Anne Robinson.

Uh… Either you changed the post, or I commented on the wrong post on the wrong blog, but somewhere it said there would be another post. I don’t know. Lol. Nevermind
