A while back (8/07) I mentioned an incident in which a drunk moron jumped into a bear cage and was eaten. (Un)fortunately that person apparently wasn’t as stupid as I had thought… This woman is far more idiotic. She doesn’t even have the excuse of being drunk:

A polar bear attacked a woman at Berlin Zoo Friday afternoon after she climbed a fence and jumped into its habitat during feeding time, police said Saturday.
The bear attacks the woman during feeding time at the zoo.

One adult polar bit her several times after she plunged into the moat, police said.

Zoo workers tossed rescue rings toward the woman to hoist her out and distract polar bears swimming nearby, said Goerg Gebhard, a Berlin police officer.

“They saved her life,” Gebhard told CNN.

The woman was severely injured and was being treated at a hospital, police said.

It’s unclear why the woman entered the bear habitat, but police issued her a citation for trespassing. – Source

Thank God for the G20 pledging to restore growth! I mean I felt entirely lost without their decision to restore growth.

But before we get too excited about the reemergence of our economies maybe we should consider this:

Led by Germany’s Peer Steinbruck, they are concerned about all the billions being added to governments’ debt, and have said it would be best to see if the current stimulus schemes start to work before more money is dedicated.

They are some European finance ministers. They make sense. The UK and US financial types think pouring more money on the problem is the solution. They are ID10Ts of the highest magnitude. Period.

Crook county sheriff suspends evictions in Chicago area.

In these troubled financial times it’s nice to see that someone out there has a moral compass that isn’t pointing straight to “greed” all the time.

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) — Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said Wednesday he is suspending foreclosure evictions in Cook County, which had been on track to reach a record number of evictions, many because of mortgage foreclosures.

Sheriff Thomas J. Dart of Cook County, Illinois, says proper eviction procedures aren’t always been followed.

He said many of the evictions involve renters who are paying their rent on time but are being thrown out because the landlord has fallen behind on mortgage payments.

Mortgage companies are supposed to identify a building’s occupants before asking for an eviction, but sheriff’s deputies routinely find that the mortgage companies have not done so, he said.

“These mortgage companies only see pieces of paper, not people, and don’t care who’s in the building,” Dart said. “They simply want their money and don’t care who gets hurt along the way. – Source

Of course we can argue night and day about his motives, but from the sounds of it they aren’t half bad. Now the question is will anyone else follow his example?

For those who care here’s the official statement on the Crook County Sheriff’s website concerning this decision.

This will prove very popular with the people facing eviction but I fear the cronies in the mortgage companies will come gunning for this guy’s political head at the first opportunity.

Google ordered to provide user details to viacom for its lawsuit against youtube.

A US Federal court has ruled that Google must hand over Youtube usage logs to Viacom. Those logs include the following information.

Log in ID of users

IP addresses of users computers

Details of the video clips uploaded and viewed

Viacom is the parent company of Paramount pictures and MTV. They accuse YouTube of “massive copyright infringement”. A few other international companies are looking to join in on the lawsuit as part of a possible class-action against Google. One such company is The UK’s Premier League association which contends that Youtube has allowed the viewing of football (soccer) match highlights.

Clearly the lawsuit isn’t something new as it has been in litigation for over a year now, but these developments are troubling to say the least. This order opens a wide path not to just go after Google as a company, but also individual users of the YouTube service. I wonder if a person views copyrighted material, knowing it is copyrighted have they violated the law as well as those who supply it?

What are your thoughts on this? Do you feel violated? Does it concern you that by embedding copyrighted material on a website or blog via YouTube that could possibly be considered an issue of copyright infringement?

Google has been ordered to turn over all the REMOVED videos as well. Google had argued that Viacom should have to specify the individual videos, but the judge disagreed

Google responded by saying:

“We are pleased the court put some limits on discovery,” Google said in the statement, “including refusing to allow Viacom to access users’ private videos and our search technology. We are disappointed the court granted Viacom’s overreaching demand for viewing history. We are asking Viacom to respect users’ privacy and allow us to anonymize the logs before producing them under the court’s order.”

19 year old kid Ronnie White was brutally murdered in his hold cell by an "unknown person" carrying out some sick form of vigilante justice. White had never even met with a lawyer let alone had a day in court.

Good, because you came to the right place. Check this out…

A prisoner killed in a Maryland county jail on Sunday was a victim of “vigilante justice,” Prince George’s County Chief Executive Jack Johnson said.

Ronnie White, 19, was in custody in connection with the death of a police officer.

Ronnie White, 19, died of strangulation and asphyxiation and had two broken bones in his neck, an autopsy showed.

An attorney for White’s family said that because White was being held in solitary confinement at the Prince George’s County Correctional Center, a corrections officer would have had to let whoever killed the prisoner into his cell. <span style="font:size:12px;"Link to rest of the article

This is a man who hadn’t seen his day in court nor had a chance to address the charges against him and some assholes decided to take it upon themselves to execute a summary judgment on him. Hell, even the worst dictators in the world have a greater sense of right and wrong than this. But what can “we” do about it?

To start with we can demand justice. Someone must hang for this. It is as simple as that. Probably multiple people if the truth were known. I don’t mean legally hang I mean literally hang. Like they did to people in the old days. You know, wild west style. Except they’ll get a fair trial before they hang.

Or am I wrong?
