How to save on gas

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Here are 7 quick tips that will help you save on gas. With the price of gas rising once again it is important to take advantage of every money saving opportunity we can when it comes to buying fuel.

Tips to help you save on gas

  1. Walk more to save on gas. Sometimes we overlook the obvious
  2. Car pool to save on gas. Don’t think this needs much explanation
  3. Get an oil change to save on gas. Your engine will run more efficiently
  4. Turn off the air conditioner to save on gas. Most cars will gain at least 2 to 3 miles per gallon if the A/C is turned off
  5. Properly inflate your tires to save on gas. Tires that aren’t inflated properly cause poor gas mileage
  6. Fill your car in the morning to save on gas. Gas expands as it gets warm so less fits in the tank in the warmer parts of the day
  7. Coast to save on gas. Old technique that still works. When you can coast instead of using the accelerator

Does anyone else have any tips to pass along about saving on gas?

Interview: Bryan Clark of One Man’s Goal part 3

Today we will conclude our interview with Bryan Clark of One Man’s Goal. If you’ve missed part 1, or part 2 of the interview please go check them out!

Question:How much time does it generally take you to publish a new article from conception of the idea until final product and what steps go into it?

Most of my articles are pretty long. It generally takes me 1-2 hours to put out a LONG post because I spend a lot of time researching it to make sure I cover all the angles. A shorter post can be anywhere from 15-30 minutes. Once I have some knowledge on a subject, it sticks with me… therefore, effectively reducing the time it takes me to write about it.

Question to the reader: How long does it take you to get an article published?

Question: You’ve mentioned a girlfriend in other posts. How much a part of this is she and what role(s) does she play?

She’s fantastic. She plays the role of live-in support group, graphic artist, and editor/proofreader. My posts would have a lot more errors if it wasn’t for her reading them and correcting spelling and grammatical errors.

Question for the reader: Do you rely on anyone else to help you with your blogging?

Question: How important has it been to differentiate yourself from all the other “make a living in one year” type blogs out there?

My goal in and of itself is unique. It takes courage to be held publicly accountable for a goal. There are lots of make money online blogs out there, but how many of them actually challenge themselves and their readers the way that mine does? Most of the blogs that you read are about people that have actually done it… what about those “trying” to do it? Along the way I like to share tips and tricks that help, but I wouldn’t solely consider myself a make money online blogger. More like a “live your dreams” blogger.

Question for the reader: How important is it to differentiate your blog from others both within and outside of your niche?

That concludes the interview. I’d like to thank Byran Clark for having taken the time to answer the questions!

Interview: Bryan Clark of One Man’s Goal part 2

Today we are continuing on where we left off in part one of our interview with Bryan Clark.

Question: Your earnings are impressive for such a young blog. In fact many “old” blogs never generate the revenue that you are. If you were given one opportunity to advise someone else on your most effective monetization tactic what would you tell them?

There is no magical tactic. It’s a combination of a lot of little things. If there was one magic button to push, we’d all be rich. It just doesn’t work that way. I’ll have an e-book coming out around month 3-4 detailing my first 3 months of blogging. It’ll teach all the methods I’ve used for early success.

Question to the reader: What methods have you used to be successful?

Since the beginning you have been very open and honest about what your purpose is with this blog. How do people in general react to it, meaning aside from your fans and readers?

I get a lot of negativity, inside the blog-o-sphere and away from it. Most people you run into are simply there to discourage you from dreaming. Negativity does two things to people. For the successful it’s a motivating factor. For the average person, it just discourages them from following their dreams. People online have reacted well (although I get lots of hate mail and negative comments from some). But all-in-all the experience has been extremely positive so far.

Question to the reader: Do you get a lot of negativity about your blogging efforts? How do you deal with it?

Question: Like anyone else your quality of post has increased as you’ve done this more and more. Where do you get the inspiration for your posts from?

Reading other blogs. I’ll find a topic and see if I can improve upon it. Most people try to put as much information into a post and keep it short enough so that they don’t have to write for an hour. Some of my posts take me an hour plus… so I really can go into detail about some commonly talked about things, that nobody wants to take the time to explain. The internet is full of resources, it’s just hard to find them all. It’s my goal to make this a bit easier on newer bloggers. The quality of my posts is increasing because my knowledge on the subjects is expanding as well.

Question to the reader: Where do you get your inspiration from to release new content day after day after day?

Stay tuned for the third and final part of the interview with Bryan Clark!

Interview: Bryan Clark of One Man’s Goal Part 1

A few weeks ago I sent an email to Bryan Clark of One Man’s Goal asking him if he’d like to do a short interview. He agreed and this is a result of that. I’ve broken the entire thing into 3 parts as I wanted to get a little more out of it than a simple question and answer session.

You’ll also notice that I’ve asked you the reader for comments with a mini-interview of sorts. If you would take the time to answer the questions I believe your insight would be greatly appreciated by everyone who is reading this blog, myself included. So without further delay let’s get started.

Question: We all know a little bit about Bryan Clark the person, and we also know what has led up to this desire to make money online, but why did you choose blogging as the vehicle to reach your goal?

It was opportunity meets availability. I had recently lost my job and was looking for a way to get out of the daily grind. I love to write so it just seemed natural to start a blog. Especially after reading about how much money some bloggers are making.

Question to the reader: If you’re using your blog to earn a living or are working towards that goal why did you decide blogging would be an appropriate means? If you’re not blogging to earn a living why are you blogging?

Question: What is the one thing you regret doing most of all when you started this blogging project?

Starting on a free blog. My original blog was hosted for about a week at blogger.com - I made the switch before I really lost anything, but I wish I would have started with a domain. It was like starting over when I had moved. I had 60 or so daily readers that never made the journey to the new site.

Question to the readers: What one thing do you regret most of all from when you first started blogging?

Question: Would you mind listing 5 mistakes you’ve made with your blog and what steps if any have you taken to corrected them?

If this sounds conceded I apologize. But I’m not aware of any real mistakes I’ve made so far. I research every move extensively so there doesn’t leave a whole lot of room for error. I’m sure I’ve made mistakes, but none have become blaringly apparent so far.

Question to the reader: Can you list some mistakes you’ve made with your blog and steps you’ve taken to correct them?

Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 of this interview!
