Blog Rush: My unofficial (and uninvited) opinion
Blog Rush: My unofficial (and uninvited) opinion
A little bit ago I was browsing through a few blogs and came across a couple of articles mentioning a new service for bloggers called Blog Rush. The concept is much like multi-level marketing except that it won’t cost you the shirt off your back if it turns out to be a fraud. Obviously I don’t believe it to be fraudulent or I wouldn’t have taken the time to write this post nor would I have installed the widget on my sidebar.
- So what exactly does blog rush do?
- That’s a good question and fortunately the answer is pretty straight forward. It drives traffic to your blog. There’s more to it than that obviously, but that’s the general idea behind it.
- How does it drive the traffic
- It all starts when you signup for a free account with Blog Rush. The first thing you do after going through the very simple signup process is to copy and paste 6 lines of javascript into your blog. I recommend putting it in a sidebar and the reason for this should become clear in a moment. This widget doesn’t display popular pages on your blog, or people who have visited, or anything of that nature. Instead it displays links to articles on other pages.
Now before you start wondering why you’d want to promote someone elses blog on your blog consider something. Each time your page loads a widget for a visitor another widget out there on another blog is loading your article links on someone elses widgets. If you load 500 widgets a day for your visitors your blog will be advertised 500 times. It gets better though. There’s a community aspect to it, but I’ll let you watch the Blog Rush 5.5 minute promotional video for more details.
- How much does it cost?
- The basic service is free according to the terms of service. They do charge for domain hosting, extra storage and things of that nature.
- Who runs Blog Rush?
- A company called income.com which incidentally happens to have a “coming soon” page of its own showing when you try to visit www.income.com. That shouldn’t stop you from signing up for it as the potential amount of traffic increase you’ll gain would be well worth just going through the beta phase.
- How do I sign up?
- Signup is extremely easy. It literally took me 30 seconds. First go here and click the register button. After you do that you’ll fill out your name, email address (which is your user name), and of course a password. Once you submit that information you’ll get an email with a standard confirmation link. Just click it and you’ll be taken to another page where you fill in your blog name, url, feed, and category. Then you’ll be given the widget code to copy and paste in your blog. As I said extremely easy.
My unofficial opinion is as follows. This looks to be a potential promotional giant, BUT it is in reality way too soon to tell. I can say that if everything runs a smoothly and as easily as the initial signup process and ad code installation has gone then they are definitely starting out on the right foot. If you still have doubts I strongly encourage you to signup and give it a chance anyhow. If after a few weeks it isn’t working out for you then by all means get rid of it.
What does everyone think of Blog Rush? Good idea, bad idea, no idea…?
