Kathi Rienstra handbag
Kathi Rienstra uses old plastic grocery store bags to make the hand bags using a technique called crocheting. I’ve not seen one in person, but from the looks of them you’d be hard pressed to tell they are made out of old plastic bags. Not sure how they’d hold up to the real world as most plastic grocery bags now days are made out of biodegradable material that will break down. For more information visit her blog and take a look at her interview in the Concord Insider

Wow, that’s very unique and innovative! Like you said though, being that they are likely biodegradable, I wonder how well they would hold up to the abuse of daily life…
Very interesting, all the same - thanks for posting it!

It’s good to see that some people are trying alternatvies, rather than just dumping the plastic bags, at least now they are being reused.

Mike - Yeah I just hope people don’t expect them to last a lifetime

Kimba - I don’t know. Regardless I think it’s a great thing she’s doing.
